Six Month Stats

Our girl is growing!

19lbs 2 oz--95th percentile

27inches tall--90th percentile

head circ. is 90th percentile too (no wonder I am having trouble fitting things over her head!)

The Doctor says she looks great and is right on track for developments. He said it is time to start babyproofing the house: she should be crawling within two months!

Happy Half Birthday

Aubrey turns six months old today! Our little daddy's girl has gotten so big....

She loves to sit and play with her toys. She talks to them and will sing and bang on things. Her babbling is so cute: the way she opens and closes her mouth like she is actually saying words is funny. I know she is imitating us.

Laughter and squealing are very frequent: especially at Dexter. I don't know what she finds so funny about him but he entertains her to no end. She has learned that he will look at her when she makes noise, so she will sit and "call" him and when he looks at her, laugh. If he chews on his bone or plays with a toy she thinks that is hilarious. Dexter is a very patient "big brother" and puts up with the ear grabbing and smacking on the top of his head very well.

Aubrey is a girl who knows what she wants--she has started crying when we take something away from her or move something out of her reach. She loves her baby cereal, which she just started last week. She still hates being on her tummy; she can roll over from back to front and front to back but usually chooses not to. It is much easier to just scream until Mom moves her or gets her what she wants. It is pretty funny how a person so little knows exactly how to get what she wants. If I am not paying attention to her she will fake crying until I look at her and then give a smile and a belly laugh. Her sleeping is going very well: she is fairly consistent with two hour-long daytime naps and sleeping from 8pm to 7am with one night waking. She is a big girl with two teeth just about growing out of her 9 month size Carters clothes and 6-12 months Baby Gap and Old Navy. Her 6 month checkup is on Thursday--I will update then with the stats.

Maiden voyage of our new jogging stroller!

I am so excited for a few reasons. One, I found a great deal on craigslist. Two, whoa momma I am out of shape and hopefully this will help because it will be excellent for all the packed dirt trails that I used to frequent. And lastly, it is just so cool :)

"Eating"

The food is going everywhere but down her throat!

monday, monday

Why is it when you are exhausted everything seems so much harder? I have to go to the grocery store today and that seems like an insurmountable mountain. Three nights of a cranky, wakeful, sick baby have depleted all my reserves of energy and motivation. Even walking the dog (who is pacing and whining right now) looks hard from where I am. It doesn't help that it is eleven degrees outside--brrr. Aubrey got another cold and she is such a drama queen about it. Her only symptom really is a runny and stuffy nose. No fever or anything. But she won't sleep because of the runny nose. I spent a good part of the past two nights on the floor in the nursery with her, trying to keep her quiet so as not to wake Bill. Aubrey didn't want to walk, rock, nurse, so I finally gave up and hauled my pillows and comforter off the bed and put them on the floor and lay down beside her and wonder of wonders she fell right to sleep. After 45 minutes of me walking, patting, jiggling her while she was screaming and kicking her legs. Sigh. The things we do for our babies. :)

Yesterday was Aubrey's first day of baby food. She did okay with it, although at this point she doesn't recognise it as something edible, I wonder how long that will take. Right now she takes the cereal in her mouth and then lets most of it dribble off her chin while blowing bubbles with it. It is cute. (yes, that is Bill's hand feeding her. Mine isn't that hairy, I promise.)

Aubrey and Charlotte: Best Friends Forever

Matching Outfits

Holding Hands (they did that, we didn't make them, how cute!)

Swimming on their tummies.

They look like inmates from the pink baby jail, haha!

Its official

Aubrey can now roll over! She did it yesterday for the first time at Charlotte's house and again a few times today--once without any encouragement or baiting with toys. It takes a lot of work to get that round tummy over; the dr. did say that it takes longer for bigger babies to roll because it is so much extra effort for them.
Also that is a picture of her two teeth. A bit blurry, I can't seem to get her to hold still and open her mouth at the same time!

A brief concert from Aubrey

This is a piano Aubrey got for Christmas. She loves banging on it and "singing." She will play it for about 5 minutes at a time. Unfortunately as soon as she notices the camera in my hands she stops whatever she is doing and just stares at me, so that is why there is only 5 seconds of concert. :) Look how well she is sitting up now!
